A huge thank you to Eric Billingsley for creating the fantastic soundtrack, faithfully recreating the original NES score in true Pico-8  fashion and truly making the whole project feel complete.
Special thanks to MissMouse for creating the amazing CANVAS and PAKRAT libraries. Without these tools, this project simply wouldn't have been possible.

This Pico-8  demake is an unofficial, non-commercial fan project,
created purely as a tribute to the original game.

A very small detail: The lemmings on the title screen who are scrolling the text are not pulling the same way, so the illusion of them actually scrolling the text is gone. :) Also, any chance of starting with the more difficult levels....?  (option to press mayhem, taxing, etc...)

Haha, that’s actually intentional! 😄 The lemmings on the original title screen don’t pull in sync either, so I kept it that way to stay faithful to the original.

And you can use up and down to quickly skip between difficulty levels (Fun, Tricky, Taxing, and Mayhem).

this game is really creative and fun 🤩🤩

I hope you continue to update and develop this game

I could have sworn this was the GameGear or Lynx version. Great work!

This is absolutely awesome! Looks and feels like the original while being a more "on the go"-version. I'm not sure why you made the lemmings pink-skinned, though....? I realise they are pink in illustrations, but in game lemmings are usually white, right?

Thanks so much! Really glad you like it! 😊 They are a little paler in the original, although definitely not pure white. I went with the closest skin tone available in the PICO-8 palette.:)

Lemmings - An all time classic has arrived on the Pico-8 by Buzzard, and it's seriously good! https://www.indieretronews.com/2026/07/lemmings-all-time-classic-has-arrived.html

Does lemmings.p8 contain all the levels, also in the folder?

Yes! The lemmings_p8.zip contains 12 carts in total: 1 main cart and 11 data carts.
Just put them all in the same folder, launch lemmings.p8.png, and you'll have the complete game with all 100 levels.
